Following the Saturday evening session of stake conference, the New York New York Stake celebrated the 70th anniversary of the stake's founding in 1934 in a special commemorative service. Attending were former stake presidents Frank Miller, Michael K. Young, Elliott Brinton, and John R. Stone.
In conjunction with the anniversary celebration, the stake history committee also published City Saints: Mormons in the New York Metropolis. The anniversary celebration and new history were featured in the Church News:
